Listed lace mill converted into 450 student bed scheme

An 80,000sq.ft. listed former lace mill was acquired in an off-market transaction.

Due to the combination of the loss of employment from the site; the standardised student requirements and; the listed status, a lengthy planning process ensued resulting in a detailed planning permission being granted for 450 student beds and 60 apartments together with ancillary retail units on the ground floor.

Identification and acquisition of, and relocation by the mill occupier to, modern industrial accommodation within the city were a perquisite for on-site redevelopment.
